Frequently asked questions

Yes. Spend caps are switched on by default on the Pro plan, so your usage simply stops at your plan's included limits. If you'd rather keep scaling past those limits, you can turn spend caps off from your dashboard and pay only for what you use beyond them.
Because spend caps are on by default, your project won't rack up extra charges automatically. You'd need to deliberately toggle spend caps off in your dashboard to allow pay-as-you-grow billing beyond your plan's limits.
Paid plans are charged up front on a monthly cycle. Any usage beyond your included limits is calculated and billed at the end of that billing month.
Where local law requires it, we apply sales tax, VAT, GST, or other indirect taxes based on the billing address on your account. See our billing documentation for the specifics that apply to your region.
Pricing could evolve as the platform grows, but we aim to keep it as fair and developer-friendly as possible, and we'll always give plenty of notice before anything changes.
Your organization is credited for any unused time left in the billing month, and that credit balance can be put toward other projects in your account.
Your dashboard's usage page shows how every project is tracking against your plan's limits in real time, your upcoming invoice updates as you go on the billing page, and Pro plans and above can rely on the spend cap to keep costs under control.
You can simply spin up two projects — one for development and one for production — since the Free plan already includes two free projects. On Pro and above, Branching also lets you run a separate development environment directly off your production project.
Yes — you're free to self-host using our Docker setup or CLI tooling, and the full dashboard/studio experience is included in that self-hosted setup too.
Yes, you can pause a project whenever you like. The Free plan includes two active projects, but you're welcome to keep as many paused projects as you want and unpause them whenever you need them again.
